If you’re staying on the South Zone of the city, the best option is to take the  485 – Siqueira Campos – Penha bus line, whose itinerary can be seen here. If this bus doesn’t stop to take passengers close to your home, an option is to take the subway line two  for R$4.30, having Pavuna Station as final destination, and get off at Cidade Nova Station, where you will be able to take the bus line 485 – Siqueira Campos – Penha.

Along the path, while you’re inside the bus, some elements may help you to identify how close you are to the final destination:

1. Ponte do Saber (Knowledge Bridge): You’re close to the Campus!

2. Pórtico de Entrada (Entrance Gate): You’re entering the campus!

3. The building looks like this:

You can check on google street view how the campus looks like to get acquainted with  CT surrounding areas.

In case you’re going to take the subway to Cidade Nova before taking the 485 bus line, to know if you got off on the correct station just check if there is a golden arches crosswalk.

At Cidade Nova, the correct lane to take the 485 bus line (having Penha as final destination, which ensure you’re going to Fundão) is the closest to the first subway exit (the first stair to get down the crosswalk).

For any other point of departure, use the app Moovit available on appstore and playstore, to find your way. To ensure it’s reliability, double check the given solution by using google’s similar service.

How to come back home

Take the bus line 485 – Penha – Siqueira Campos on the opposite direction (check the direction! It must be Siqueira Campos as final destination now).

OR

Take any 32X bus line, where X can be any digit. Wait for the bus at the red circled region showed bellow. Get off it at Cidade Nova and take the subway line that leads you home.

The blue circled area is normally where your bus is going to let you when you’re are coming to CT. The bus stop is in front of it, across the street.

Alternatives

There are many carpool groups on Facebook, Telegram and Whatsapp that are exclusive to UFRJ students. Talk to an Interpoli member for advices and tips on finding them.

You can also download and register at Caronaê, a carpool app developped by UFRJ students for the university community exclusive use.

Be careful with open and unrestricted carpool groups that aren’t related to the university. They may be dangerous since you don’t really know the other people that will be in the car with you.
